1) First up is Washi tape! Now if you've yet to jump on the washi tape band wagon or even worse, don't know what it is, let me enlighten you. Washi tape is a decorative japanese paper tape, kind of like mashing tape, that you can put on...well just about everything. The best part is it's totally removable! It's a great way to add some temporary patten to your room. The internet is full of a plethora of ways to utilize this great product but here are some of my favorites. (You can find a great selection of tape here)
PS: If you ever have to buy Color-aid for a class, pick up some paint chips instead! There are actually more colors and finishes available, and they're sturdier making them easier to work with!
3) A great trick for personalizing large blank walls is utilizing SVA's DIC which has an awesome machine called the Zoomer which is basically a huge photocopier! It's an amazing resource for making large prints on the cheap. You can blow up some photos of you and your family and friends or some nice scenic shots to help create your own personal oasis. You can also order these from staples if you don't want to lug them around. The Library of Congress has a great digital database of some amazing photographs from throughout the years if you're interested in some vintage photos.
Finally I'm gonna do a little plug for an upcoming event! Another great way to decorate is by DIYing some straw mobiles! Come hang out in the community room and create some sweet decorations to help personalize your space! - RA Charlotte
