Heat is going on today and other going ons

As we settle into October and the temperature slowly decreases we urge everyone at ludlow to keep their heat on even if it is on the lowest setting. Today the heat is going to be turned on in all of  the rooms in the entire building so if you've been a little chilly you can now warm up your room to your preferred temperature(yay). Also in other news Halloween is so close I can taste it, literally I've been eating nothing but pumpkin related items and candy for the past few weeks. I can't wait to see everyones costumes, October 22nd will be SVA's annual Halloween party I'm ready to be impressed by a fabulous array of costumes. Buuuut, if you're like me and always living life on a budget here are some really cheap and quick ideas for last minute costumes. Bad costumes are like puns, they're too obvious but you're a little mad you didn't come up with it.
That what makes them so great.

Video games are revitalizing music

Has a video games' music every immersed you so fully that you feel like a part of the world? As video games have advanced in quality and scope over the year, musical composition has taken more prominence in the video game culture. Recently on the Late show with Steven Colbert, a whole orchestra sampled pieces from the legend of Zelda live on television. Here's a great article on how music and games interact!

Art In Odd Places

For those who didn't make it out on this beautiful day to walk along 14th ST and see all the performance art can see some now! Or wait til next year.

The pictures below are two of my favorite ones.

The picture above represents a parallel reality. The artist is by Isidro Blasco, and the piece is called Not Really There. Blasco took close up images of everyday objects and placed it next to the original as a mirror. The parallel reality is like the one we see every day.

This next picture is called Complimentary, by Leah Harper. It is an interactive installation that collects compliments from the public and sends them back out. It's a toy vending machine with small plastic capsules. Each capsule contains 2 copies of the compliment. You can keep one for yourself and give one to a stranger.

Namaste Part 2

On a BEAUTIFUL Sunday morning a group of us went to yoga to destress and stretch out some limbs. Look at all these smiling faces!

With the 2nd yoga program of the semester we had a some residents from last time and some new faces. Everyone who wasn't able to make it this time should come the final time! The last session will be the first week of November. Residents who have done it feel so refreshed and zen. It's a perfect de-stresser.

Remember, all levels are welcome! No judgement or shade will be passed.

Namaste.

South Street Sea Port Recap

"Oh, when the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof
And your shoes get so hot, you wish your tired feet were fireproof
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea"

If you missed the port, then you missed food, shops and the boardwalk. Not only was the sun out, there were helicopters and SMORGASBURG. It became South Street Sea Port and Smorgasburg Pt. II!
